Bridge Drawings
In 1998 I had an idea about a more conceptual approach to urban landscape. Crossing a bridge on the Chicago River one day, I thought it would be interesting to focus on components of the structure, instead of a bridge "scene". Since Chicago has the world's largest collection of lift bridges, the initial idea led the way to a series of pencil drawings, many of which served as studies for later paintings in the "Constructs" and "Nuts and Bolts" series. These drawings were completed from 1998 through 2001.
